In the old times, there lived a king. His daughters were all pretty. But the youngest was the most beautiful.

古时候有个国王，他的女儿们都很漂亮，但最小的女儿最美丽。

The youngest daughter liked to play with her golden ball in the wood.

小女儿喜欢在树林里玩她的金球。

There was a well in the wood.

树林里有一口井。

One day the ball fell into the well. But the well was too deep and the youngest daughter could not see her ball.

一天，   她的球掉进了井里。但是井太深了，小女儿没办法看到她的球。

She was very sad and began to cry.

她非常伤心，就哭了起来。

Suddenly she saw a frog on the well. It asked, “Why are you crying here, King’s daughter?”

突然，她看到一只青蛙在井上。它问：“国王的女儿，你为什么在这里哭泣呢？”

The daughter told it, “My golden ball has fallen into the well.”

小女儿告诉它说：“我的金球掉进井里了。”

“Do not cry!” said the frog, “I can help you, but you will promise me something if I find your ball.”

“别哭了！”青蛙说道，“我能帮你，但是如果我找到你的球你要答应我一件事情。”

“What do you want then?”

“那么你想要什么？”

“You must have me as your friend, let me sit at your table, eat with you, and sleep in your little bed.”

“你必须让我做你的朋友，让我和你坐在一张桌子上，和你一起吃饭，并且让我睡在你的小床上。”

“Oh, yes, I promise you all.”

“好啊，我都答应你。”

So the frog jumped into the well at once and found the ball. The daughter was very happy.

于是，青蛙立刻跳进了井里并且找到了球。小女儿高兴极了。

But then she forgot all of her promise, and ran back fast to her palace.

但是她忘记了所有的承诺，飞快地跑回了宫殿。

The next day, when the youngest daughter was having dinner, the frog came in.

第二天，当小女儿正在吃饭的时候青蛙进来了。

She was very unhappy and didn’t want the frog to have dinner with her.

她非常不高兴，不想和青蛙一起吃饭。

But the King said to her daughter, “You must keep your promise!”

但是国王对女儿说：“你必须遵守你的承诺！”

So the frog ate food with the youngest daughter. Then it said, “Now I’m full. Let me sleep on your bed.”

所以青蛙就和小女儿一起吃了东西。然后它说：“我吃饱了。让我睡你的床吧。”

At first the King’s daughter didn’t want that. But the King was angry with her, “You mustn’t break your promise!”

起初国王的女儿不想那样。但是国王对她很生气：“你不能食言。”

So she took the frog to her room. In her room, she was very angry, and she threw the frog on the wall.

她只好带着青蛙去了她的房间。在她的房间里，她非常生气，就把青蛙往墙上一摔。

But when the frog fell on the ground, it became a handsome prince.

但是当青蛙摔在地上的时候，它变成了一位英俊的王子。

Then the prince said, “A wicked witch made me an ugly frog, and only you can save me. Thank you so much!”

然后王子说：“一个邪恶的巫师把我变成了难看的青蛙，只有你能解救我。非常感谢你！”

Later they loved each other and got married. They lived very happily together.

后来他们相爱了并结了婚。他们幸福地生活在了一起。

The Snail and the Rose-bush

It is spring now. The garden is full of green plants and sweet flowers.

现在是春天。花园里满是绿色的植物和芬芳的花儿。

In the centre of the garden there is a rose-bush in full bloom. And under the rose-bush there is a snail.

在花园中心有一丛盛开的玫瑰花。在玫瑰花丛的下面有一只蜗牛。

The snail seems to have a lot to do inside his shell. He always says to the rose-bush, “You give flowers all the time. I shall do more than to give roses.”

蜗牛看上去有很多事要在他的壳里忙。他总是对玫瑰花丛说：“你总是在开花，我要做比开花更有意义的事。”

Another spring is coming. The snail is still in the same house under the rose-bush. And the rose-bush begins to give fresh beautiful flowers again.

又一个春天来到了。蜗牛仍然在玫瑰花丛下的同一个窝里。玫瑰花丛又开始绽放新鲜美丽的花朵。

The snail creeps half out and says, “Everything looks just the same.” Then he creeps back.

蜗牛爬出半个身子说：“一切都还是老样子。”然后他又爬回去了。

The summer passes; the autumn passes; the rose-bush has given many roses. The weather becomes cold. The rose-bush bows down towards the ground. The snail creeps into the earth and hides.

夏天过去了；秋天过去了；玫瑰花丛已经开出了很多玫瑰花。天气转冷。玫瑰花丛耷拉下脑袋来。蜗牛也爬进了地里躲了起来。

A new year starts again. The rose-bush revives and the snail comes out again.

新的一年又开始了。玫瑰花丛苏醒了，蜗牛也爬出来了。

The sail says, “Now you are only an old stick. You give the world all that in you. You never do anything for yourself. And you never do any different things. You are going to become a bare stick.”

蜗牛说：“现在你已经是一根老枝了。你把你所有的东西都给了这个世界。你从没有为你自己做过什么。你也从没有做过什么不同的事情。你马上就会变成一根光秃秃的枝条。”

The rose-bush cries, “Are you alarming me? I have never thought of this.”

玫瑰花丛叫起来：“你在提醒我吗？我可从来没有想到过这个。”

“But you should think about this. Have you asked yourself why you blossom?” the snail says.

“但是你应该要考虑一下。你有没有问过自己为什么要开花？”蜗牛说。

“I blossom because I am glad. The sun is so warm and the air is so fresh; I drink of the clear dew and rain; I breathe – I live. It is my life.”

“我开花因为我高兴啊。太阳那么温暖，空气又那么新鲜；我喝到洁净的露水和雨水；我呼吸着——我活着；那就是我的生活。”

“But your life is too easy!”

“但是你的生活太简单了！”

“It’s enough! I’m pleased. I like to give roses to the world. But what have you given to the world?” asks the rose-bush.

“那就足够了！我很满足了。我喜欢把玫瑰花献给这个世界。但是你给过世界什么？”玫瑰花丛问道。

“What have I given? The world is nothing to me. I have enough to do with myself!” The snail goes back to his house.

“我给过什么？这个世界和我没有关系。我自己有足够多的事要做！”蜗牛说着便钻回他的窝里。

The rose-bush keeps giving beautiful roses, while the snail keeps retiring into his slimy house – the world is nothing to him!

玫瑰花丛仍然坚持绽放美丽的玫瑰花，而蜗牛也始终进他粘乎乎的小窝里休息——这个世界和他没有关系！

Years flew on. The dried rose leaves disappear and the new rose-bushes bloom in the garden. And the new snails are there, too. They creep into their houses – the world is nothing to them!

时间飞逝。干枯的玫瑰叶消失不见了，而新生的玫瑰花丛又在花园里开放。新生的蜗牛也在那儿。他们爬回他们的窝里——这个世界和他们没有关系！

The Straw, the Coal and the Bean

A poor old woman had many beans. One day she said, “I’m going to cook them.”

一位穷困的老妇人有很多豆子。有一天她说：“我要煮豆子吃。”

So she made a fire on her hearth, and threw in some straw.

所以她就在炉膛里生起一把火，并且扔进去一些稻草。

When the beans began to bubble in the pot, one of them fell out of the pot onto the floor.

当这些豆子开始在锅里冒泡的时候，其中的一颗从锅里掉了出来落到了地板上。

There was already a straw on the floor.

地上已经有一根稻草了躺在那儿了。

Soon a red-hot coal jumped out of the fire and joined the bean and the straw.

很快又有一块烧红的煤炭从火里蹦出来，加入了豆子和稻草的行列。

The straw said, “Dear friends, how do you come here?”

稻草说：“亲爱的朋友们，你们是怎么到这儿来的？”

The coal answered, “I jump out of the fire by good luck, or I will die soon.”

煤炭回答道：“我很幸运地从火里跳出来，否则我很快就会死去。”

The straw said, “The old woman has thrown all my brothers into the fire. Very luckily I slipped through her fingers.”

稻草说：“这个老妇人已经把我的兄弟们都扔到了火里。我非常幸运地从她的手指里滑落下来。”

“What should we do now?” asked the coal.

“现在我们该怎么办呢？”煤炭问道。

“We are friends now. So we should go together to another place. No one will find us!” said the bean.

“我们现在是朋友了。所以我们应该一起逃到另一个地方去。没有人会找得到我们！”豆子说。

So they started on their travels. But soon they came to a little brook, and there was no bridge. They didn’t know how to get to the other side.

所以他们开始了他们的旅程。但是不久他们就来到一条小溪旁，溪上没有桥，他们不知道如何才能到达对岸。

The straw had a good idea, and said, “I can be a bridge, so you can go over me.”

稻草有了一个好主意，就说：“我可以变成一座桥，那样的话你们就可以从我身上过去了。”

So the straw stretched himself from one bank to the other, and the coal, quickly trotted up to go over the new “bridge”.

所以稻草就把自己从河的这一端伸展到另一端，而煤炭飞快地跑上了这座新建的“桥”。

But when the coal reached the middle she was very afraid and stopped. So the straw began to get burnt, broke into two pieces, and fell in the brook, and then the coal slipped down into the water, too.

但是当煤炭到达中央的时候她感到很害怕，就停住了。所以稻草开始燃烧起来，断成两半，掉进了河里，而煤炭也跟着滑进了水里。

The bean looked at them and laughed at them. But she laughed so excessively (过分地) that she burst.

豆子看着他们并嘲笑他们。但是她笑得太厉害了以致于突然裂开了。

Luckily, a kind traveler saved the bean with the needle and thread. The bean thanked him.

幸好一位善良的旅行者用针线救了她。豆子感谢了他。

But as the traveler sewed the bean up with black stitch, all beans since then have a black seam.

但是由于旅行者是用黑线将豆子逢起来的，所以从那以后所有的豆子上都有了一条黑线。

The Emperor’s New Clothes (Part I & II)

皇帝的新装 （第一﹑第二部分）

Long ago there was an Emperor. He liked new clothes very much. And he liked to go out to show off his new clothes.

很久以前有一个皇帝。他很喜欢穿新衣服。而且他喜欢外出炫耀他的新衣服。

One day there came two weavers. They said they could make the most beautiful clothes in the world, but stupid people could not see their clothes.

有一天，来了两个织布工。他们说自己可以做出世界上最漂亮的衣服，但是愚蠢的人是无法看到他们做出的衣服的。

The Emperor was very happy about that. He thought, “Now I can know who is clever and who is foolish.” So he asked the two “weavers” to make new clothes for him.

皇帝听了非常高兴。他想，“现在我就可以知道谁聪明谁愚蠢了。”所以他就让这两个“织布工”为他做新衣服。

The two men placed two weaving looms, and began to work, but they put nothing on the looms.

这两个人摆好两台织布机，就开始工作了。但是他们在织布机上什么也没有放。

They got the finest silk and a lot of gold from the Emperor. But they put them into their pockets. They only worked on the empty looms.

他们从皇帝那里得到了最好的丝绸和非常多的金子。但是他们把这些放进了自己的口袋里，而只是在空的织布机上工作。

The Emperor’s officers told the emperor about the empty looms. The Emperor thought, “They are all foolish, so they cannot see the cloth on the looms.”

皇帝的官员们告诉了他关于那两台空织布机的事。皇帝想：“他们都很蠢，所以他们无法看到织布机上的布。”

“I will send my old minister (大臣) to the weavers,” thought the Emperor. “He can tell me what the cloth is like, because he is wise.”

“我要派我的老臣到那两个织布工那儿去，”皇帝想。“他可以告诉我那些布是什么样的，因为他是睿智的。”

Now the good old minister went into the hall. “Dear me!” thought the old minister and opened his eyes wide, “I can see nothing!” But he did not say so.

现在这个好老臣走进了厅里。“天啊！”老臣一边想着一边睁大了眼睛。“我什么也看不见！”但是他没有这样说。

The two men invited the minister to go closer to the empty loom, and said, “Don’t you think it is the most beautiful cloth?” The minister rubbed his eyes, but he could not see anything.

这两个人请大臣走近空织布机，说：“难道你不觉得这是最漂亮的布吗？”大臣擦了擦他的眼睛，但是什么也没有看见。

“Oh, dear!” thought the minister. “Am I stupid? No. I can’t say I cannot see the cloth, or they will know I am a foolish man. “

“噢，天啊！”老臣想。“难道我很愚蠢吗？不，我不能说我看不见布，否则他们会知道我是个愚蠢的人。”

“Oh, it is lovely, most lovely!” answered the old minister. “What beautiful cloth! What nice colors! I will tell the Emperor I like it very much.”

“噢，很漂亮，漂亮极了！”老臣回答道。“多美的布啊！多好看的颜色啊！我会告诉皇帝我很喜欢。”

The Emperor was very glad to hear his new clothes would be very beautiful.

皇帝听说他的新衣服将会非常漂亮以后很高兴。

So the two men got more silk and more gold. But they still put them in their own pockets. There was still nothing on the looms.

于是这两个人得到了更多的丝绸和金子。但是他们仍然把这些放进了自己的口袋里。织布机上仍然空空如也。

The Emperor soon sent another minister to see the clothes. The minister went there. He looked and looked, but he could see nothing.

不久皇帝又派了另一个大臣去看衣服。这个大臣去了那儿。他看了又看，但什么也没看见。

“I am not stupid!” thought the man. “I must say I can see the cloth.” And so he went back and said to the Emperor, “It is really very very beautiful!”

“我并不愚蠢！”这个大臣想。“我必须说我看到了布。”所以他就回去对皇帝说：“真的非常非常漂亮！”

Everybody in the town was talking of the great clothes.

城里每个人都在谈论着这无与伦比的衣服。

Now the Emperor wanted to see the clothes himself. So he went to visit the two “weavers”.

现在皇帝自己自己想去看衣服了。所以他就去拜访了两位“织布工”。

When he saw the empty loom, he was surprised. “What!” thought the Emperor. “I can see nothing! This is terrible! Am I stupid?”

当他看到了空的织布机时，他非常惊讶。“什么！”皇帝想。“我什么都看不到！这太可怕了！我很愚蠢吗？”

But he didn’t say that. He only said, “Oh, it is very beautiful. I like it so much. How great you are!”

但是他没有说出来。他仅仅说：“噢，这太漂亮了。我非常喜欢。你们真是太棒了！”

Everyone in the hall looked at the empty loom and said, “Lovely! The most beautiful!”

大厅里的每个人都看着那台空织布机说：“好看！美丽极了！”

Throughout the whole night, the two “weavers” were busy working by the empty looms. And at last they said, “Now the clothes are finished!”

整个晚上这两个“织布工”都在织布机旁忙活。终于，他们说：“衣服完成了！”

The next morning, the emperor came. The two men said, “Your Majesty (国王陛下), would you please take off your clothes？Then you can put on the new clothes.”

第二天早晨，皇帝来了。这两个人说：“国王陛下，请您脱下您的衣服好吗？这样您就可以穿上新衣服了。”

The Emperor took off all his clothes, and put on the “new clothes”. He turned himself in front of the mirror.

皇帝脱下他所有的衣服，穿上了“新衣服”。他在镜子前面转着身体。

“How beautiful! How lovely!” Everybody said with smiles. But nobody could see any clothes on the Emperor.

“多么漂亮啊！多好看啊！”每个人都面带微笑说。但是没有人能看到皇帝身上穿了任何东西。

“Now, I’m ready to go out and show my new clothes to all the people in the country. They will see the most beautiful clothes in the world!”

“现在我已经准备好出去把我的新衣服展示给我的人民看。他们将会看到世界上最美丽的衣服！”

All the people came out to see the great clothes. They could not see anything. But they didn’t want others to find they were stupid. So everyone said, “What beautiful clothes!”

所有的人都出来看这件美妙的衣服。他们什么也没看到。但是谁都不想让别人发现自己是愚蠢的。所以每个人都说：“多么美丽的衣服啊！”

“But he has nothing on!” said a little child at last.

“但是他什么也没穿！”最后一个小孩说。

All the people looked at one another. And they all called out, “He has nothing on!”

所有的人都相互看了看。他们都叫起来：“他什么也没有穿！”

At last the Emperor knew the people were right. The two men cheated him. But what could he do? He could do nothing, but to finish his show.

最后皇帝认识到人们是对的。那两个人骗了他。但是他能做什么呢？他什么也不能做，只好结束了他的展示。

The Crow

乌鸦

Once upon a time there were three young and beautiful princesses, but the youngest was the most loveable.

很久以前，有三位年轻而美丽的公主，最小的那个最可爱。

There was an old castle near their palace. It was almost ruined (废弃的). The youngest princess often had a walk there.

在她们的宫殿附近有一座古老的城堡，几乎已经废弃了。小公主经常到那儿去散步。

One day when she was walking under the trees, a crow flew out of a rose-bush. The crow said to the princess, “I am not really a black crow, but a prince. You can save me.”

有一天，当她在树下散步的时候，一只乌鸦从玫瑰丛中飞出来。乌鸦对公主说：“我其实不是一只乌鸦，我是一个王子。你可以救我。”

 “How can I save you?” asked the princess.

“那我怎么才能救你呢？”公主问道。

 “You have to say good-bye to your family, come to my castle and stay with me. There is a room in it. And there is a golden bed. You have to live all by yourself. But you can not scream or cry at night.”

“你要离开你的家人，到我的城堡来和我呆在一起。城堡里有一间房间，里面有一张金床。你要一个人住在里面。但是在夜里你不能叫也不能哭。”

The kind princess at once left her family and came to the old castle. She slept on the golden bed at night.

善良的公主立刻离开了家来到了古老的城堡里。晚上她就睡在那张金床上。

At midnight, some spirits (幽灵) came to her room, lit a fire, and boiled water. She was very frightened. But she did not scream or cry.

半夜的时候，一些幽灵来到了她的房间，点起了火，烧起了水。她非常害怕。但是她没有叫也没有哭。

When the spirits left, the crow came. It thanked the princess for her goodness.

幽灵离开后，乌鸦来了。它感谢公主的善行。

So she lived in the castle every day and saw the spirits every night. And every day the crow came and thanked her.

于是，她就每天居住在城堡里，每晚都要看到这些幽灵。而乌鸦每天都会来感谢她。

Two years passed away. One day the crow came to the Princess and said: “In another year I shall be freed from the spell. I want to marry you. But you must do another thing for me.”

两年过去了。一天，乌鸦对公主说：“还有一年我就要从魔咒中解放出来了。我要娶你。但是你要为我做另一件事。”

“What is it?” asked the princess.

“是什么事呢？”公主问。

“You have to work as a servant for a year.”

“你必须做一年的仆人。”

The young princess agreed at once. In a year, she was very badly treated, and suffered many things.

小公主立刻就答应了。一年中，她待遇极差，还遭受了很多痛苦。

One evening, when she was working on the loom, she saw a handsome man beside her. He knelt down at her feet and kissed her hands.

一个傍晚，当她在织布机旁工作时，她看到一个英俊的男人来到她身旁。他跪在她脚边，亲吻她的双手。

“I am the prince,” he said. “Now come to my castle with me, and let us live there happily together.”

“我就是那个王子，”他说。“现在就和我到我的城堡去吧，让我们一起快快乐乐地生活在那里吧。”

So they went to the castle. But when they got there, they saw the old castle was rebuilt. So they lived there for a hundred years with joy and happiness.

于是，他们就去了城堡。但是当他们到那儿的时候，他们看到旧的城堡已经被重修好了。于是他们就在那里快乐而幸福地生活了一百年。

Aladdin

阿拉丁

Many years ago, there was a boy. His name was Aladdin. His father died. He and his mother lived in a little house. They were very poor. But Aladdin was lazy. He didn’t do any work.

很多年以前，有一个男孩，他的名字叫阿拉丁。他的父亲去世了。他和他的母亲住在一个小房子里。他们非常贫穷。但是阿拉丁很懒。他不做任何工作。

One day Aladdin met a rich man. The man asked Aladdin, “Do you want to be a shop owner? I can help you.” 

一天，阿拉丁遇见一个富有的人。这个人问阿拉丁：“你想成为商店老板吗？我可以帮助你。”

Aladdin believed the man.

阿拉丁相信了那个人。

They came to a hill. There was a big stone with a ring (环) in it. “Put your hand on the ring and say your father’s name, Aladdin.”

他们来到了山上。山上有一块大石头，石头里有一个环。“阿拉丁，把你的手放到环上并且说出你爸爸的名字。”

Aladdin did so. The stone moved. And the ground began to open.

阿拉丁照着做了。石头移动起来。然后地面开始打开了。

 “Go down and find an old lamp for me,” the man said. And he gave a ring to Aladdin. It could help Aladdin.

“下去给我找一盏旧灯。”这个男人说。然后他给了阿拉丁一个戒指，它可以帮助阿拉丁。

Aladdin went down and found the old lamp soon.

阿拉丁下去后很快就找到了那盏旧灯。

“Help me get out!” Aladdin shouted.

“帮我一把让我出来！”阿拉丁叫道。

“You must give me the lamp first!” the man said.

“你必须先给我灯！”那个男人说。

“Help me first!” Aladdin didn’t give him the lamp.

“你先帮我！”阿拉丁没有把灯给他。

The man got very angry and left.

那个男人非常生气，于是就离开了。

The ground closed again. Aladdin was left alone underground.

地面又合起来了。阿拉丁被一个人留在下面了。

He waited for three days and three nights. He suddenly remembered the ring. He put it in his hand.

他等了三天三夜。他突然想起了那个戒指。他把戒指放在手中。

WHOOSH!

噗——！

A puff of blue smoke came out and then a big jinnee.

一股蓝烟冒出来，随即又冒出来一个巨大的魔仆。

“I am your slave now. What is your wish?” the jinnee asked.

“现在我是你的奴隶了，你有什么愿望？”魔仆问。

“Take me out of here.” Aladdin answered.

“带我离开这里吧。”阿拉丁回答道。

Soon he went back home. His mother was glad to see him.

不一会儿他就回到家中了。他妈妈很高兴看到他。

Next morning, his mother was cleaning the dirty old lamp.

第二天早晨，他妈妈正在清洗那盏脏兮兮的旧灯。

WHOOSH!

噗——！

A puff of blue smoke came out and then another big jinnee.

一股蓝烟冒出来，又冒出个巨大的魔仆。

“What is your wish, lady?”

“你有什么愿望，夫人？”

Aladdin’s mother was afraid, but Aladdin said, “Go and get us some food!”

阿拉丁妈妈感到害怕，而阿拉丁却说：“去给我们弄点吃的吧！”

The jinnee went away, and came back soon. He brought back bread, fruit and meat. He also brought twelve gold plates.

魔怪出去后很快就回来了。他带回了面包、水果和肉。他还带来了12只金盘子。

Aladdin and his mother ate the food, and then they went to the market and sold the gold plates for a lot of gold.

阿拉丁和他妈妈吃了东西后就去了市场，他们把金盘子卖了，换来很多金子。

Every day after that, Aladdin and his mother got nice food and gold plates. And they sold all the plates for gold.

之后的每一天，阿拉丁和他妈妈都得到了精美的食物和金盘子。他们把金盘子全卖了换成了金子。

Soon, they were rich.

很快他们就变得富有了。

Then Aladdin had a shop, and everyone liked him.

后来，阿拉丁开了家店，所有的人都喜欢他。

One day, Aladdin saw the princess. She was very beautiful.

一天，阿拉丁看到了公主。她长得非常漂亮。

“Mum! I saw the Sultan’s daughter, the beautiful princess. I must have her for my wife!”

“妈妈！我看见了苏丹的女儿，美丽的公主。我要娶她为妻！”

So Aladdin let his mother go to ask whether the princess would marry him.

于是阿拉丁就让母亲去问一问公主是否愿意嫁给他。

Aladdin’s mother gave the Sultan a lot of jewels. The Sultan was very glad. But another rich man wanted to marry the princess. So the Sultan said, “Wait for three days. I will let my daughter choose.”

One night, the jinnee took the princess to Aladdin. The princess saw Aladdin and found love in his eyes. She loved him, too.

一天晚上，精灵把公主带到阿拉丁身边。公主见到了阿拉丁，从他的眼睛里发现了爱意。公主也爱上了他。

Three days later, they got married in a palace. They lived happily together.

三天后，他们在一座宫殿里结婚了。他们幸福地生活在一起。

There was a strong and kind hunter many years ago. He lived with his tribe in the forest. But his friends did many cruel deeds, and even betrayed him.

许多年以前，有一个强壮而善良的猎人。他和他的部落住在森林里。但是他的朋友们做了很多残酷的事情，并且背叛了他。

He was unhappy about that. So he left them, and took his three children to another place near a stream.

他对此很不高兴，所以就离开了他们，带着他的三个孩子来到了另一个地方，靠近一条小溪。

For many years they lived happily in this place. But at last, the strong man felt sick, and soon he knew he must die.

他们在这个地方幸福地住了很多年。但是最后，这个强壮的男人病了，并且不久后他发现他肯定要死了。

One day he said his last words to the elder brother and sister. “My children, please promise always to love each other, and never to forsake your youngest brother.”

一天，他对他的大儿子和女儿说出了临终的话：“我的孩子们，请你们一定要答应永远相互关爱，永远也不要抛弃你们的小弟弟。”

“Never!” they replied. They held out their hands. The man died soon.

“永远不会的！”他们伸出手回答道。猎人很快就死了。

But soon the eldest brother forgot his promise. One day he decided to leave home.

单是不久后大哥哥就忘记了他的承诺。一天他决定要离家出走了。

The sister said, “My brother, I understand you. But don’t forget our father's words. We cannot seek our own pleasure and forget our little brother!”

姐姐说：“哥哥，我可以理解你。但是你不要忘记爸爸的话。我们不能因为寻求自己的快乐而忘记我们的小弟弟！”

But he did not listen. He took his bow and arrows, and left the hut. The snows fell and melted, yet he never returned.

但是他没有理会。他拿着弓和箭就离开了小屋。雪落下又融化了，但是他却再也没有回来。

Later, the little brother became a burden to the sister. One day she spoke to him: “See, there is food for you. Stay here. I’ll go to look for our brother.”

后来，小弟弟成了姐姐的一个包袱。一天，她对弟弟说：“看，这是给你吃的。呆在这儿。我去找我们的哥哥。”

At last she found her brother in a village. He had a wife and was happy.

最后她在一个村庄里找到了她的哥哥。他有了妻子而且很幸福。
